The Verification Flow
A typical TRUSTTICA identity-verification flow proceeds through the following steps: Country → ID Type → ID Capture → ID Hold Photo → Selfie/Liveness → Verification Decision.
What Happens at Each Step
Country
Why: Determines which identification types are supported and which verification rules apply.
Information processed: Selected country/jurisdiction.
ID Type
Why: Different documents (passport, driver's license, national ID) require different capture and validation logic.
Information processed: Selected identification type.
ID Capture
Why: Captures an image of the identification document for review and matching.
Information processed: Identification-document image and data extracted from it.
ID Hold Photo
Why: Helps confirm the physical document is genuinely in the user's possession, rather than a submitted image of someone else's document.
Information processed: Photograph showing the individual holding the identification.
Selfie/Liveness
Why: Compares a live facial capture against the ID photo and checks for signs of a live person versus a static image or replay.
Information processed: Selfie image and liveness-verification inputs/results.
Verification Decision
Why: Produces the final verification status based on the checks above.
Information processed: Verification result and associated audit information.
Automated Processing
Steps in this flow may involve automated comparison and decisioning (for example, comparing a selfie to an ID photo, or evaluating liveness signals). See our Biometric Information & Consent notice for details on this processing.
If Verification Fails
A failed verification does not necessarily mean fraud was detected — it may reflect image quality, lighting, an unsupported document, or a temporary technical issue. Users may be offered the opportunity to re-attempt or re-verify. Where manual review is implemented for a given workflow, users may see their result change after review.

What a Verification Result Means — and Does Not Mean
A successful TRUSTTICA identity verification means the submitted identification and biometric checks were consistent with each other under the applied checks.
It does not mean TRUSTTICA has performed:
- a criminal-background check
- a credit check
- an employment investigation
- a comprehensive assessment of the person's character, intentions, safety, financial condition, or history
"Identity verified" is not the same as "background checked" or "safe/trustworthy person." See Terms of Service section 4–5.
